Our mission is to educate current and future Texans about their forefathers’ armed struggle for Freedom and Liberty through the placement of a large bronze plaque containing Col. William Barrett Travis’s Alamo “Victory or Death” letter, in all 254 Texas Courthouses.
The statewide leadership of the Sons of the Republic of Texas gather to honor Slone McNutt, the girl who came up with the idea that the Travis Letter Plaque at the Alamo should be “all over Texas”. By the end of 2026, 100/254 counties in Texas should have the plaque on display.

Not many Texas companies founded in the 19th century are still in business today. However one is the famous Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana founded in 1896. Their famous Christmas red cake tin has the Alamo front and center as you can see from this photo.
The Alamo Letter Society has over 60 Texas Counties lined up to accept the 203lb bronze plaque containing the greatest letter in the English language- the Travis Letter. It is interesting to note that is only 220 words long, and The Lincoln Gettysburg Address was only 224.🇺🇸
The Captain Albert Martin Award went to the Governor of Texas on Alamo Day in 2025, but the first recipient of the award is a returned Army Veteran John Vick. He is a co-founder of the Alamo Letter Society that has now dedicated the plaque in over 30 courthouses across Texas🇺🇸

Chairman Bill McNutt has been carrying this bag across the Lone Star State to courthouse dedications of the Victory or Death letter. Lieutenant Dan Patrick added his signature to the bag which will be donated to the Bullock Museum once all 254 counties have been dedicated! 🏛️🤠
