To mark World Suicide Prevention Day, the BBC has released a short film titled 'Patrick A Young Traveller Lost' which talks about the suicide epidemic amongst young Irish Travellers in Ireland.
The film has won multiple prestigious awards in Ireland, and highlights the suicide epidemic facing the Irish Traveller community.
The ground-breaking documentary tells the story of 12 year old Patrick McDonagh from Dublin who died by suicide, as well as the story of Bernie Power from Kilkenny who struggled with suicide ideation.
The film features leading voices from the Irish Traveller community including Senator Eileen Flynn and Dr. Thomas McCann, who spoke at the Traveller Movement conference in 2024.
