Hay imbéciles criticando a Alvarado por no poner un centro decente sobre el final, siendo que estaba marcado por 2 y en la mayoría de jugadas distribuida el balón
Mexico were by far the best team on the pitch across both halves. Dominated England in the second half especially after Quansah’s red card. Football is so ruthless and defeats are so hard to swallow but they are going out having made genuine history. Conceded only three goals, suffered only one defeat in the entire tournament and all from a single game, against England. One of the most dominant and cohesive sides in the group stage and Round of 32. Javier Aguirre coached a brilliantly organised, fearless team and deserves every single credit for that. They deserved more but that is football. Props to Mexico for a brilliant game. Props for everything they achieved in this World Cup. Props to every single Mexican player and fan out there. You did yourselves incredibly proud. 🇲🇽
🚨Zlatan Ibrahimović on England eliminating co-hosts Mexico after a thrilling 3–2 FIFA World Cup clash:
“First of all… what a football match. This is why the FIFA World Cup is the greatest tournament in football. From the first whistle it had everything—two penalties, one red card, controversial refereeing decisions, brilliant goals and unbelievable intensity. It was the kind of match people will talk about for years.
Mexico cannot leave this tournament with tears. They leave with their heads held high. Before the match I heard a Mexican fan say, ‘Whether we win or lose doesn’t matter. What matters is that we give the world a great game.’ They did exactly that. Raúl Jiménez, Julián Quiñones, Edson Álvarez, Santiago Giménez and the rest of the squad gave everything, while the supporters never stopped believing. The football world will respect this Mexican team.
England also deserve enormous credit. Jude Bellingham was outstanding, Harry Kane delivered again, and Anthony Gordon showed why he’s such a special player. I also have to praise Thomas Tuchel. It takes courage to trust these players, and they’re fighting for him with everything they have. You can see a team that believes in its manager.
If England had lost tonight, Quansah wouldn’t have been able to sleep after that red card. His teammates saved him. That’s football. England celebrate qualification, Mexico leave with pride, and everyone watching was treated to one of the best matches of this FIFA World Cup.”
