@GOPIsrael Uti possidetis iuris right. Spain had possession of the islands from 1774 until ARG independence in 1816. Col D Jewett took posession for Argentina in 1820. The british signed in 1825 a treaty recognizing ARG independence and didnt make any claim over the islands.
