Scottish Nationalists keep going on about a pro independence majority in parliament and that’s a mandate for a referendum.Well let’s put this to bed once and for all.

1/ You can’t have a mandate for something that’s out of a devolved parliaments control.
2/ it’s was an election on many issues not just one
3/ A parliament cannot have a mandate the winning party sets the agenda of governing .
4/ The SNP said they needed a majority they failed.
5/ The SNP lost 6 seats and 500K votes
6/ The SNP also lost heavily at the general election losing all but 9 MPs now down to 8.
7/ The greens did not have independence in their manifesto
8/ The Supreme Court ruled the Scottish Parliament cannot hold a referendum.

In conclusion the SNP have no mandate apart from to run a devolved administration and the Scottish Parliament cannot legislate for constitutional changes to hold a referendum which is outside of devolution as ruled by the Supreme Court.
