Any leader be it of a party, movement or subculture that refuses to support the liberation of the Palestinian people is no leader worth following. Be like Greta 🇸🇪🇵🇸
Jesus Christ okay let’s deal with this:
“The word “Palestine” is literally an English translation of a Roman translation (Palestina) of a Hebrew translation (Philistine) of a Greek word (Peleset) that described Greek people (hailing from Crete) in the region that are now extinct.”
- Yes, the Philistines arrived on the coast near Gaza in 12th century BC and eventually integrated with local Canaanite people, it’s why many Palestinians have Philistine DNA. I’d say living in the same area for 3200 years in some form or another makes one indigenous.
“All but the English translation came before Islam was invented and before the Arab expansion while Arabs were still in Arabia.
In fact, there’s not even a character or combination that makes the “p” sound in Arabic. Which is exactly why in the 60’s arabs invented the word “Falastine” because it’s the closest translation their language even allows.”
- The use of the term ‘Filastin’ goes back to the Ummayad Caliphite, where they designated a good portion of the region as a military district under the title ‘Jund Filastin’
And yes, ‘Filastin’ is the Arab form of ‘Palestine’, in the same way ‘John’ is the English form for ‘Johanan’ (Hebrew/Aramaic), or Persia is the Latin exonym for Iran (derived from the Greek Parsa). Also, Arabic at some point did indeed have a ‘P’ sound, they simply dropped it, languages will add or drop consonant as time passes.
“There was never a Palestinian nation on the land, but there was a Jewish one. You as a (Catholic are you?) should know this best.
You should also know about the Philistines, their comparatively light skin and Greek vocabulary.
It’s a stolen identity from people who didn’t even reside on the entire land. The Philistines occupied a small subsection of land on the coast between modern Gaza and Tel Aviv. They were widely considered invaders and didn’t even exist by the time the Roman’s renamed the land.”
- Yes indeed, the Romans renamed the region Palestine as part of the joint province of Syria-Palestina after they crushed the Bar-Kochba revolt. However, the majority of the Judeans that were driven out of Jerusalem settled in the Galilee: they Hellenized, became Christians, and then after the Muslim conquest of the land they slowly Arabized and became Muslims, and those people now identify as Palestinians. Comprehensive genetic studies and testing prove this.
Another thing, the whole region, from Gaza to Acre, was populated by a diverse group of people, there was never a time in history in which it was only ever Judeans or Israelites: Philistines, Edomites, Moabites, Phoenicians, Aramaeans, Galileans, etc. if you read your Bible, you’d know this.
As the centuries and millennia passed, these people eventually collectively identified as Arabs, and as Palestinians.
But ultimately it’s irrelevant: it doesn’t matter what they call themselves now, called themselves in the past, or will call themselves in the future. All historical records and genetic evidence decisively proves that the people who now identify as Palestinians are the native and indigenous people of the they call Palestine, and they are currently being ethnically cleansed from their homeland by Jews. This is a crime, and they have every right to resist and fight those people who are brutalizing them.
The reason neolibs, neocons, and social identity right-wingers constantly seethe online while pretending they aren't the ones seething is because they miss Iraq War culture where they could successfully press people into their fake ideology and they don't like they're discredited
Trots use "workers of the world unite" in the same way that liberal atheists trying to get one up on Christians use "love thy neighbour". With the most dishonest interpretation imaginable where they extrapolate its meaning into some sort of hateful, cosmopolitan free for all.
Two-state solution is the apartheid solution. We already are living the two-state solution since 1947, look at where its got us.
West Bank and especially Gaza are defacto a two-state solution.
The only solution is the one-state solution, Palestine only.
With due respect and sympathy for Henry Nowak’s family, the public have no moral obligation to contain their anger, even rage at what happened to that young man. Keir Starmer has no right to lecture us on how to behave or think. The circumstances surrounding the death of this young man speak directly of the way in which our culture and institutions have been taken over by identity politics. But it is an identity politics which elevates certain people over other people effectively becoming injustice within itself.
@CleaningTheMess@Luke_Jahn_ Also socialism is not a failed experiment. China is socialist. Compare their experience to ours. They are on the rise while we are getting poorer and it isn't wholly the result of mass immigration which is causing our impoverishment but capitalism itself.
@CleaningTheMess@Luke_Jahn_ Prior to Thatcher the UK while not socialist has nothing in common with what the right-wing nationalist reactionary crowd push. They mix neoliberalism with racialism which has no historical precedent in Britain and wouldn't be taking the country back.
@CleaningTheMess@Luke_Jahn_ So you want the working class of Britain to be exploited, not in a racial manner but in an economic manner? Socialism is the only viable path, whether international or national, if you truly want people to have a better life and to stop parasitism of others' labour.
Henry Nowaks sister Olivia Nowak is reposting @RobertJenrick on TikTok lecturing Shabana Mahmood on the death of her brother, Henry.
But the media and the government keep telling us not to politicise his death and to respect the family?
Do not let the media gaslight you.
@BBCNews Despite post-Ukraine price hikes, McDonald's and most people's local chippy is still cheaper than making your own healthy meal from scratch. And I don't want to hear any boomer say "then eat bread and water if money is tight" when this is supposed to be a first world country.
@MarenThePoet I don't side with them if they're anti-white. I side with anti-capitalism as the corest principle there is and won't budge for any right winger who may say the right thing about racism.
Even if I was the last socialist who wasn't anti-British-people in the world I'd still be a socialist, I'd never ally with the capitalist right even if they may talk about the racial injustices inflicted upon us. Why? Because capitalism is also an injustice against us.
Communists must contend with the fact that for over a decade the British state and superstructure have promoted identity politics, intersectionality and post-modernism as the hegemonic ideology. Banks fly the rainbow flag. Corporations propagandise diversity and inclusion. Academia promotes critical race theory.
The paradigm has shifted, and communists have, despite acknowledging the incorrectness of intersectionality etc, failed to act on the change.
Instead of acting they have watched the transition of divide and rule as traditionally employed by the national bourgeoisie to the divide and rule of the imperialist bourgeoisie without amending tactics accordingly.
The accumulation of capital since 2008 has meant that finance capital has moved from mere dominance to hegemony. Finance capital is rootless, the free movement of capital and labour are it's primary concerns, it has no loyalty to the "national interest", unlike the industrial bourgeoisie which is increasingly crushed.
We must understand this, we must understand the trajectory, and we must change accordingly, or the proletariat will be left blind.
