I never thought I would share this but in the light of the awful revelations in the @churchofengland regarding the women who have come forward about #BishopOfLiverpool perhaps it is time. This may shock some people in the Church, but transparency is important
@StevenDeLay4@CamillaTominey@RupertLowe10 I beg your pardon? Pitting victims against each other is demeaning and unhelpful. And it was not ‘hair touched’ it was sexual harassment and assault by a priest who was also my senior colleague. You were not at college and have no idea of the situation but keep posting about it?
@karenmitchell__ A man did that to me - but also set up a few websites publishing ‘details’ about me, enlisted others to write blogs and comment with further fake details. It’s so overwhelming and it’s impossible to combat every lie told. And so many people believe them
This is the first conviction using the misogyny as hate crime framework - what he did was already a crime but now he will get a more serious sentence for having targeted this woman. Minimising his behaviour underlines exactly why we fought for this law because she must have been terrified. Ask for a kiss? He grabbed her hair and refused to take no for an answer. Do better @BBCNews
@Rgt71Robert@SewellMartin@churchofengland I’m not going to trawl through my collection of literally hundreds of comments Mr Sewell has made about me and his case- but this tweet gives the flavour. Important to note: the police recorded my report as sexual assault. Is he gaslighting me and the public while a @synod rep?
@AndrewGraystone@synod A tiny selection of tweets from Mr Sewell talking about my case of sexual assault/harassment by Martyn Percy. This is how Mr Sewell treats women who speak up. Safeguarding in the church will not improve while men like Mr Sewell harass victims to support their powerful friends.
@Rgt71Robert@SewellMartin@churchofengland Perhaps Mr Sewell could reflect on how ‘Persistent and vexatious’ I had to be to deal with his years long harassment of me - all because I reported sexual harassment in the church.
@GuardintheFlock@churchofengland 5/ lastly, I waived my anonymity despite years of harassment. Perhaps Mr Sewell could show some courage and give me the dignity of my name instead of calling me “the Percy Accuser” ?
@GuardintheFlock@churchofengland 4/ it does not help survivors/victims in the slightest when ill-informed men like Mr Sewell think they can rampage in public, spout false information and support abusers as they do so. I hoped we could have all moved on from this, but Mr Sewell is clearly still cruelly obsessed
@survivingchurch Yet again Stephen, my offer of speaking remains open. Your blog is clearly still keen to publish false information about me - perhaps you could have the courage to actually hear my experiences at some point.
@GuardintheFlock 1/ I can’t respond on this blog because they block me. I’m the “Percy victim”. Martin Sewell thinks he’s well informed on my case but is not involved, and has refused to speak to me. He is misleading the public in this article - Martyn was suspended by the college.
@NormanLeedsPhD @ChurchTimes My complaint did. Don’t know if that’s the one you’re counting!
We went to mediation, had a good discussion and resolved amicably with an acknowledgment of what had occurred.
@AndrewGraystone@JoeeggJoe@ChurchTimes That’s quite concerning. Does that mean any decision made by the President of Tribunals is not independent and should be questioned? Or just the current President specifically
Mental and emotional torture is a specialty of malignant narcissists! Unless one has experienced it, it’s almost impossible to understand how debilitating and powerful this dynamic is.
@GuardintheFlock@Rgt71Robert@Richard_Scorer @MartynPercy @AndrewGraystone Just making sure you know Marty Percy is the perpetrator of a sexual offence not the victim? He acts like a victim advocate but he’s not - it’s to disguise his own history. The other men you’ve tagged are great advocates and shouldn’t be lumped in with Martyn!
Father Damian Howard was asked to step down from the Catholic chaplaincy after a safeguarding complaint from a postgraduate student was upheld https://t.co/0TEkDfL87w
@survivingchurch And this is so obviously a dig at a particular @churchofengland diocesan bishop that Martyn dislikes (due to the bishop upholding correct safeguarding procedures and actually trying to allow a complaint against MP to proceed.) It’s such a shame that you sully your blog like this
