@smdcapital I hear you, but please consider that in those countries you will be a rich outsider target with no local roots and network when the crises mount.
@BattleMageOG@martianwyrdlord N-7 is the designation of Commander Sheppard from the trilogy. The N standing for special operations, and the 7 for highest level of proficiency. 😉 But they are indeed fucking with us!
Wow, everything really is downstream of housing affordability.
This paper (long but very interesting, recommended reading) makes a compelling case that our housing crisis helps explain the rise of the degen economy and the shape of Gen Z culture.
What happens when young people stop believing they’ll ever own a home? They save less, consume more, work less, and take bigger risks. Their rate of consumption jumps 5-7%, work effort drops 1.5-2.5%, and risk-taking spikes 6-10%.
People born in the 1990s will retire with home ownership rates ~10 points lower than their parents. Many of them mentally check out of ever owning housing... and those that do end up with ~30% less wealth at retirement.
When the dream of home-ownership dies, people spend more and look for quick ways to make money... that mechanism explains so much of the last decade:
meme stocks, altcoins, levered bitcoin treasury plays, SPACs- anything with lottery-like upside becomes more appealing once the safe, slow path of home equity disappears.
Expectations drive behavior, and when home ownership stops feeling attainable, people live differently... and those shifts ripple across the whole economy.
so... lets build more housing so we can restore the wealth ladder for the next generation!
@doodlebobsTA If the new one is similarly absurd-looking it would act as a strong catalyst for a rally, since it can be presented publicly in a way that tickles the greed of investors. Given a good macro situation it could again lead to a surge in price. May be unstable but still rewarding.
@doodlebobsTA You have many good points, but personally I think a large part of these random-looking things happening at the same time were engineered (s&p inclusion with huge valuation). That was rewarding for early investors so perhaps he deserves it all. In any case it was very audacious.
@doodlebobsTA Also the removal of EV and battery stimulus will have a large impact on margins. This would make the hopes of fast robotaxi and Optimus rollout the key components of share price and both of these carry risks of regulatory action.
@doodlebobsTA We can include the outcome of the case for Elon's compensation - it can go either way heavily. If he loses, his engagement with Tesla may be presented publicly as decreasing + a new plan would be most useful to him at low prices. Winning and/or getting a new one, would be bullish.
