“If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
- Samuel Adams
Politicians are not elected by the people in terms of the populace having any real choice. Politicians are self-selected by the very nature of them choosing to run. They may claim they are only doing it ‘for the people’ and that they are ‘making a sacrifice’ to run, but that’s a lie.
Congressional office should be like jury duty. Randomly draft a pool of legally registered voters, who don’t want to be there, but understand their civic duty, and let the electorate choose their representative from that pool.
After that session of congress is over, those elected are free from having to serve again for x number of years, and the process repeats. Zero multiple terms.
We would be in a much better place if fundamental civics and history were still taught.
Instead of an informed citizenry, we have multiple generations of uninformed idiots, or tools of the state.
The word “idiot” in its original meaning in Greek, refers to someone who is ignorant about public matters and was not engaged in politics.
In contrast, a “citizen,” coming from Latin, is someone who lives among and cares for the welfare of others.
Therein lies the difference between engaged citizens and the vacuous idiots who walk amongst us.
Isaiah 5:20 - Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
We hear a lot about the national debt and the massive amount of interest paid on that debt annually.
But you never hear about who owns that debt and who the massive amount of interest is paid to.
