@BruceLeeMTB@tomdanielson Probably a bit more chance of a slightly 'random' result than a monument due to national teams of differing sizes, no radios, circuit format etc. However a long time since the winner wasn't a fairly big name.
@Aerossurance A topical example: https://t.co/U5OmBJT6pr . Apparently 2% of 65+ Yr olds (and 12% of 18 yr ols) are confident they could qualify for the men's cycling road race. The winner (@EvenepoelRemco ) rode at over 26 mph for 6 hrs 20 minutes.
@BlickyIan @postmandick2 Probably mostly tail codes Foxtrot Oscar and Foxtrot Uniform. As JEngO I had the job of allocating Tail codes. Added a bit of humour and differentiated the lead noses (the ballast was a metal plate not cement) from the radar fitted fleet on 25(F) Sqn.
@gregbagwell Useful summary Greg. Agree that security would be the biggest overhead, (lots of RAFP at Honington in the 80s). As a former WLSO (as a 24 Yr old Fg Off π±) there would be some overhead keeping load crews current, but as you say no different to other commitments e.g embarked ops
@100Climbs Personally I prefer a nice clean fork crown, so it and the frame badge doesn't have that slapped in front it.
Ps No wonder you hate chip-seal if you have to ride on those tyres!
@AlanMyles8 @AConstance23@FionaHyslop @Susan4_ED @RonaMackaySNP@markruskell Interesting stat about Scottish driving. I travelled all around the world during 37 yrs in the RAF. By far the worst driving I experienced was during 5 yrs at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray witnessed suicidal overtaking on a daily basis
@ImlachHair How hard can it be- 273km, 2800m climbing, 6 hrs 20 mins at 43 km per hr in Paris for Remco. LA could be brutal; surprisingly big mountains, surprisingly close to LA
@YouGov Six percent thought they could qualify for the men's cycling road race. It was 273 km long and the winner averaged 43kph. That's 26 mph for over 6 hrs - delusional!
@notlimah44 Suggest you look at what pro cyclists do in a grand tour and then reconsider whether running 55 km in 3 races in 7 days is any kind of big deal.
@cycletips123 Marginally higher than the Saitama Criterium. The only races that matter are the Grand Tours, the Monuments and the World Championships. All other races are just a guide to who's in form for those races.
