Well, it’s time for some personal news: Today is my last day at the @AlbanyBizReview. It’s been 3 amazing years, but I’m taking the leap into freelance journalism!
@AlbanyBizReview @mikedesocio Oh, and if you didn’t see my swan song cover story from two weeks ago, here it is. I couldn’t imagine a better story to go out on! 🏳️🌈 https://t.co/xIvDPilu63
@AlbanyBizReview @mikedesocio Also, in case anyone’s wondering, cleaning off your desk in empty-office Covid times is extra sad. See: My dead plant, a quote from the one and only Mike Hendricks, and the letter he gave me on my first day. 😭
We asked our readers: As we look to the next year, what would you like to see to help our local economy become more resilient in 2021? https://t.co/SfibVKfGrC
@sbjohnsrpi Yes. That was definitely the case early in the pandemic. I heard over and over that they would do everything possible to maintain payroll, even if not profitable. I think that's still the case for many restaurants.
"It was an easy choice. It’s all about risk and reward, and the risk just isn't worth the reward," says owner Jerry Aumand. #Albany#coronavirus#restaurants https://t.co/s0ITGs4LKh
Cases have recently been reported at Toro Cantina, Pint Sized, Savoy Taproom, New World Bistro Bar, Albany Ale & Oyster, The Bishop and Lost and Found, according to posts on their respective Facebook pages. #Albany#restaurants https://t.co/vg4L0IT3vx
In this week's cover story, I wrote about how #LGBTQ advocates in Albany are working to turn pride into power. A conversation that means so much to me, and can help us create a better workplace for everyone.
Advocates for LGBTQ employees say acceptance alone is not enough — it's time for real power and influence. And everyone can benefit from the change. #Albany#LGBTQ https://t.co/DR0PqHCbS6
I also wrote a column about my experience reporting the story. I was surprised by how much I, as a queer person, learned in the process. And it carries a bigger lesson for us all: https://t.co/qjYgjV15VW
>@NixonPeabodyLLP attorney Marissa Wiley, on pushing more LGBTQ folks into leadership: “Until we have people in the room and people at the table, nothing’s going to change." https://t.co/BbGQGpRl5X
