As frustrating as this loss is, it was only two seasons ago we had poor technical skills and shocking effort levels. At least now we play 4 quarters with good pressure and effort level. The skill levels will rise and so will the Eagles.

BREAKING: In a HUGE COUP for the Socceroos, Cristian Volpato has switched his allegiance from Italy to Australia ahead of the World Cup.

His decision comes just days ahead of Tony Popovic releasing his final 26-player squad for the tournament, with Volpato added to the pre-camp squad.

Football Australia are awaiting official clearance from FIFA, and once cleared, Volpato will be eligible to play for the Socceroos.

No Volpato in the Italy squad. If he was going to get an opportunity this would be it. A lot of emerging stars selected. It’s a shame he doesn’t want to represent Aus. He could have had a very good International career with us.
