Comparison is the thief of joy.

The only reason many Ronaldo fans aren’t at peace with Portugal’s World Cup exit is because there’s another player who has won the tournament, and they keep comparing the two.

Winning five Ballon d’Or awards is an extraordinary achievement. Very few players in history will ever get close. Yet some Ronaldo fans can’t fully appreciate it because another player has won eight.

Winning four European Golden Boots is an incredible feat. Most footballers can only dream of it. Yet it doesn’t seem enough because someone else has six.

Winning around 37 major trophies is something the vast majority of players will never experience. Yet that success is often overlooked because another player has won even more and is still adding to his collection.

Everything Ronaldo has achieved in football is remarkable. His legacy is secure. But constant comparisons with someone who has achieved even more prevent many people from appreciating what he has accomplished.

Appreciate what you have. Don’t measure your happiness against someone else’s achievements. Comparison will only steal your joy and leave you feeling like your own accomplishments aren’t enough.
