@xMBGx For now, I'm no longer going with PS. For starters I will jailbreak my PS5 and play there until I build a PC. It makes no sense go to another console.
@xMBGx Well for me it's over. It was a blast of a journey. So for me, I'm will full jailbreak route with my PS5 and in a future I will move to PC. Honestly, fuck you Sony.
If you are dissatisfied with PlayStation halting the production of physical game discs, address your concerns to the SONY GROUP Board of Directors. Put your thoughts into a polite and respectful one-page typed letter to the SONY Group in Japan. See image. Please repost.
Sony wants to abandon fans? Let's give them a small taste of their own medicine!
Together with other creators we call for a 1 week #PSBlackout in August. No logins, no play sessions, no purchases on any of Sony's platforms.
How I Would Have Announced & Handled The PlayStation Disk Policy Change If I Worked At SIE - I Respectfully Recommend PlayStation Consider This:
"The PS6 Portable will be a handheld device, that will allow you to play your games natively, on the go, or anywhere in the world! Since it is a handheld, it will not be able to play disk based games.
However, The PS6 Home Box & PS6 Portable Home Dock will be able to play your PS1, PS4, PS5, & PS6 disk based games via a detachable PS6 Home Box 4K Blu Ray Disk Drive, that you can buy separately.
From now on, Disk Based PlayStation 6 games will be viewed as niche collector's items. Therefore, PS6 games on disk will be listed at an MSRP of $99.99 or more, by themselves, or included in special collector's editions with extra collector's items, for an additional cost. Physical disk based PS6 games will include a Digital Conversion Code in the box. [Note: The Digital Conversion Code is not a 2nd copy of the game, see below for more info]
If you purchase the PS6 Home Box Detachable Disk Drive, you will be able to type in the code listed inside each PS6 game disk box to redeem its PS6 Digital Conversion Code which will convert your PS6 disk game into a digital version that will be added to your library of digitally purchased games. Once added, they will be able to be downloaded and played natively on your PS6 & PS6 Portable devices, without requiring the disk. You will also be able to pay $1 per game to digitally convert your PS1, PS4, & PS5 disk based games into digital versions that will be added to your purchased library of games that can be natively downloadable and playable on your PS6 & PS6 Portable devices.
The new detachable disk drive for the PS6 Home Box & Dock will be able to play your PS4 game disks, PS5 game disks, DVDs, Blu Rays, 4K Blu Rays, & as a special new addition for the PS6 Home Box Detachable Disk Drive, it will also be able to play your PS1 game disks and Music CDs!
In regards to backwards compatibility: The PS6 & PS6 Portable will be able to play the digital ports of all generations of PlayStation Games including: PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, & PS5 games. For the first time in a couple of console generations, you will be able to play the digital versions of PS3 games natively downloadable to your PS6 devices, when ported! Each month, more classic games will be added/ported to the PS+ Premium Classic Games Catalog Subscription Service where they will be able to be downloaded. When a classic game is newly ported to PS6, they will also be purchasable individually, a la carte. When ported, digital versions of PS3 games, that you previously purchased on your connected PlayStation Account, will be automatically added to your PS6 Library of purchased games, at no additional cost!
Each month, we will continue to add digital ports of classic PS1, PS2, & PS3 games to be playable on PS6. Porting games costs money, time, & effort to get each game to work optimally and acquire licenses from publishers. If you want to help fund this backwards compatibility effort, please consider subscribing to the PS+ Premium tier of the PS+ subscription service, which gives you access to the Classic Catalog of PlayStation games, with new ports of classic games from the PS1, PS2, & PS3 generations added/ported each month. To have access to everything Sony & PlayStation has to offer in regards to games, movies, music, shows, & anime, please consider subscribing to the upcoming Sony All-In-One App/Subscription service."
So ResetEra user Andshrew and now also confirmed by DoesItPlay, appear to have figured out what's going on with #PlayStation's DRM.
The good news is it's only a temporary DRM, not permanent. Here's how it works.
When you buy a digital game, you are issued a temporary 30 day license for offline play.
This license automatically transitions to a permanent license that will be free from future online check-ins, any time you connect after the 15th day of ownership, just after the 14 day refund window. But you have to log in or be connected to the internet for it to switch.
You will not lose the license to the game if don't connect within or after the 30 day temporary license window, but you will be unable to play the game after 30 days, till you do, after which it'll turn into an indefinite DRM free license.
Previously you'd be given an indefinite offline play license from the get go.
So why did they implement this? It's possible people found an exploit where they could grab the indefinite license file for a game using an exploitable console, and then refund the purchase so they got the game for free. Hence Sony's current method of mitigating said issue is by time limiting the initial license issued.
By issuing a temporary licence during the refund window, users can no longer pirate a permanent license and simply refund the game.
As long as you log in any time a day after the 14 day refund window of any digital game purchase, it will turn into a permanent DRM free digital licence.
At least this is what these two users have investigated and concluded.
