Thread on children, schools and Covid-19.
Based on the current research, there are two points which are worth remembering:
1. Children contract the virus at the same rate as adults.
2. The virus has, and will, spread in schools.

This is what we’re dealing with and it’s high time the school management bodies joined with the teachers’ unions and looked out for their staff. #edchatie

On an anecdotal level, I can understand NPHET's thinking.
Today one of our wards with 24 or so beds has become exclusively a COVID ward (and is full).
A month ago there was nobody positive on that ward.
"Of more than 200 new regional clusters, Rousseau said about 40 per cent emerged from schools and universities, 26 per cent from workplaces and 10 per cent from private gatherings."
🤔🤔🤔🤔
Interesting that the same people who complained about everything and undermined the public health message now believe that "it's on us". It's 'on' the establishment, including the media class.

Very true. I spoke to one who had worked a covid ward. She spoke of people screaming for help, watching others die of the disease they have; she seemed traumatised.
INTO has demanded clarity on the status of schools at Level 5.
Following the NPHET recommendation that the country may need to enter Level 5 restrictions, we have called for an immediate public health review on the status of schools at this level... (1/2)
