Iga Swiatek on the Dubai tournament director saying earlier in the year that both her & Sabalenka should receive very harsh penalties for withdrawing close to the start of the tournament, ‘If we aren’t fit or we don’t feel like this is the right time for us to play… like, are we slaves?’
“I was curious for your thoughts about the comments made by the tournament director in Dubai, when you pulled out of that tournament, who said both you and Sabalenka… because you both pulled out close to the start of the tournament… should get very harsh penalties like losing 500 ranking points or something like that. What were your thoughts on those comments?”
Iga: “Wait… Aryna got a penalty?”
“No, the tournament director was suggesting there should be very harsh penalties and fines and ranking point losses. Maybe you didn’t hear this, but…”
Iga: “I didn’t. I heard about the complaints but I didn’t hear about the penalty, probably because it’s a bit ridiculous [laughs]. 😂 We have a right to withdraw any time we want. I don’t see the problem honestly. If we are not fit or we don’t feel like this is the right time for us to play a tournament… like, are we slaves? We are allowed to decide, so I don’t see the problem. We get zero in the ranking. That’s a punishment.”

How convenient to ignore Gaza’s
Border with Egypt, and to ignore the West Bank’s border with Jordan.
Let’s also forget how Palestinians started the Jordanian Civil War in 1970 (Black September), and then started the Lebanese Civil War, driving out the Christian majority.
Far from victims, they are the architects of their own destruction, defended by useful idiots ignorant of history, and those whose hatred towards Jews is thinly vailed as anti-Zionism - a word they can’t define but will naively misconstrue.
If you cannot recognize how dangerous this ideology is, how those in power in the EU are anointing themselves as the sole arbiters of truth to censor what you can and cannot hear, then the totalitarian threat you ignore today is what you will inherit tomorrow.
Edge protection on a Cybertruck seen today in Monaco with New Jersey plates, likely to conform to EU law requiring blunted edges with a greater radius.
Alas, bureaucracy in the EU has few rivals.
@SawyerMerritt@TeslaBoomerMama
You mean rather than just bus them over to whichever blue state needs to bump up their electoral college representation by gerrymandering the census?
P.S. Perhaps re-read my post and note the location where I came across this Cybertruck, and then consider that maybe ‘europoor’ isn’t ‘lol’ you think it is.
Perhaps you’d rather measure stunted ambition, excessive tolerance towards the intolerant that we’ve flung open our borders for, and ever-increasing taxation to pay for our self-induced cultural and economic death spiral? On those metrics you can rest assured that we Europeans win hands down.
What a contradictory statement. So Model Y and Model 3 owe nothing of their success to Elon, but the Cybertruck’s inability to sell into Europe is his fault alone?
As the 2024 Mario Draghi report on EU competitiveness explicitly identified “excessive regulation and bureaucracy are major contributors to the EU’s low and stagnant economic growth.”
As Steve Jobs said, the consumer doesn’t know what it wants until he sees it. Let the free market decide winners and losers, not heavy handed regulators.
And, if blunting non-protruding edges on a Cybertruck is all about reducing accidents and saving lives in-line with EU priorities, then by that logic FSD should’ve been approved already - yet the EU remain laggards behind North America, China, and even Australia and New Zealand.
@alex_avoigt What’s sad is to see someone smart enough to be part of the Tesla community, yet dumb enough to be willfully blind to the fully substantiated things that Elon is referring to, ravaging the UK, and much of the rest of Europe for that matter.
Suicidal empathy.
You’re correct @afneil insofar as pointing out the mistake in thinking the trend will be linear. Unfortunately, without radical intervention, it will be a s-curve of which we’re still in the very early stages.
The UK’s demographic shift will only accelerate exponentially, as the average 3+ children from each Muslim family then have own children by approximately age 25, at close to 3x the non-Muslim birth rate.
The power of compounding does not bode well for the UK, or much of the West for that matter.
Great news! As a Tesla shareholder I fully support this. Unlike other companies whose CEO’s comp is set irrespective of results, Tesla has again ensured CEO performance is fully aligned with shareholder value.
As for wealth disparity critics, Elon’s wealth will fund SpaceX and other ventures that benefit humanity, which in the past might’ve been (inefficiently) funded by your tax dollars.
@JonhernandezIA Dara is a product of the logical fallacy that more sensors are always better.
But when sensor systems disagree with each other, to which do you give priority?
Giving priority to one makes the other redundant.
