You folks still ain't getting it. Halo Reach, despite retconning some things, did far, far more to prove the books were canon than it ever did to prove they weren't. Every game by Bungie, with the rarest of exceptions (just Halo Reach), fully abided by and stuck to things established in the book canon. Halo Reach largely VIBES with Halo book canon as opposed to contradicting it.

Halo 3's legendary edition with Halsey's journal quite literally solidifies many aspects of Halo's books as canon. A key detail was how everybody from the books KNEW there was something between Captain Keyes and Halsey, thus leading to Miranda being Halsey's daughter, confirmed in Halo 3's legendary edition pack in of Halsey's journal.

It also again confirmed and made canon Kurt-051, the Spartan who trained the Spartan IIIs, first introduced in the book Halo: Ghosts of Onyx, released before Halo 3. Kurt-051 sends a communication below in Ghosts of Onyx, the book, and this is what justifies HOW there managed to be Spartan IIIs on Reach. The former Spartan II and member of Chief's Blue Team, Kurt-051 under a codename, would try to find truly special members among the Spartan IIIs, pull them from the insane suicide missions Ackerson would try to send them on, and put them elsewhere. So this is how Noble Team manages to be a thing in the videogame Halo Reach. As I stated, the games regularly prove the books are canon in more ways than one.

If you're trying to call the Halo books fan fiction, or acting like they don't matter, or have not influenced, the Halo universe of games, you cannot call yourself a Halo fan. Full stop.

Stop trying to play stupid like they were just some random throwaway promo material. Maybe it started out as that, but right out of the gate they had a banger of a novel from Eric Nylund that was spectacular in its story and writing quality. And it spawned a whole universe of best sellers since, yes with the amazing success of Halo the games.

Getting mad at the og lore is incredibly stupid and acting like it’s beneath the franchise is extremely venomous. People like yourself accept whatover new cannon there is and deny the past which ruins the continuity while also alienating a large portion of loyal fans from the beginning.

Denying the past lore is such a revisionist take that infects every series like halo, fallout, Star Wars, lord of the rings. Having the mindset of disavowing well established lore because of retarded retcons and bad writing is why so much lore has been ruined. It’s because you never liked the og lore and prefer poorly written fanfics that pose as official lore.

To finish my point is bums like you are part of the problem in franchises because you never actually enjoyed the og series and just wanted to change it to fit your own taste.
