@autismtalknd TLDR: Autism isn't a secret world where everyone understands each other on a deep level because this implies that anything we don't understand is 'other'.
This is essentialist, xenophobic, and colorblind.
@Autistic_Lauren I was raised in the knowledge I was autistic. When you're raised by someone who doesn't have it and treated by someone who doesn't know it, do you really know you have autism? I guess it depends.
Psychoeducation therapy is when I learned what it meant. I'm still so grateful.
@Tyler_A_Harper Is this comparable to phantasms? Might be saying nonsense, I'm sleep deprived lmao
It's also an interesting point that there's this constitutive feedback loop about the audience of bookreading.
@hi_its_annaleah I hope that isn't a widespread thing. Autism is diagnosed by detecting situational disabilities, so many solutions that help us resolve situational disabilities, but that doesn't mean others are monotropic, cognitively.
@TheLone08157926@AzafTazarden@JessHealyWalton And if they aren't accountable, you need to recognize that all trans people (including those who don't have a Twitter) cannot be held accountable for the actions of chronically online people that only claim to represent all trans people.
@TheLone08157926@AzafTazarden@JessHealyWalton If a trans person quoted you and said "this is a nazi and the face of evil", would you think they're accountable for what their followers do next?
If you apply whatever answer to a trans person, but not Rowling, it's special pleading.—
@Tyler_A_Harper It basically seems that unless you're willing to found a new (civil) religion or a cynical propaganda apparatus, you're an extension of the existing (civil) religion or propaganda apparatus, or a forgettable philosopher.
Do I get that right?
@Autistic_Lia I can't be autistic because of my favorite place in the world, and it is always the same concept as the other side that we are not even sure what we want.
My autocorrect is having an existential crisis, I'm afraid.
Already happened to me. I just waffle my stream of consciousness about something, and someone will assume I got it from an AI.
No, my brain just buzzes differently.
So far my favorite response types are
1. Oh no new fear just dropped
2. Damn I wish the meeting was on Tuesday
And
3. If this happened to me I would simply pass away
@FractalEcho Finally, the way we interact with AI is like a puzzle with magic words and that is the wrong muscle to be training when you're supposed to study.
@FractalEcho The purpose is academia is to learn to take in information and not only reproduce it with clarity, but also contrast, transform and evaluate it. The further AI strays him regurgitating inputs, the "noisier" its communications become.—
@sensorystories_ mutually distinct realities and not acknowledge the conflict because of something called phantasms.
I think that double empathy is also partially a result of bias—we are more likely to diagnose like-minded autistics because it is not diagnosed equitably.
@sensorystories_ This has been my experience too. I think double empathy does exist, but autistic people have seemed very sensitive to social proof, including myself. We absorb it readily, and in aggregate that feels objective and undeniable, but you can integrate social proof for two—
