Our simple advice for urban dwellers who wish to plant for honeybees is to grow culinary herbs in window boxes (and let them flower, of course!) Here’s an endorsement of that proposal by a visitor to the Purple Basil on our roof this afternoon: a treat for humans and bees alike!

@margaretginman A rainy day job, making up unwired frames using SN4s. I've only just noticed that the rough bit on the side bar is propolised over on these frames - the lower 2 were in hives briefly last year. A rough patch means little to us, but obviously a lot to the bees.

As promised. First I have seen of this and I see my thoughts on the old queen were probably right. An old pink marked one not in lay (judging by the size) just going about the hive unharrassed.

Our Beeswax Hand Cream now has aluminium lids, to help with recycling. Dry hands from overwashing/antibac gel are getting a bit tiring. This is a lovely firm mix of Cheshire beeswax & olive oil - nothing else! Sorts out dry skin with a lovely soft hug🐝
