RM’s playlists becomes the system Training & Development
During BTS pre-debut and early career days, Namjoon manually compiled massive playlists featuring different artists and burned them onto CDs for his group members. This helped members of BTS who lacked a deep background in hip-hop and other classic genres immerse themselves in music culture and develop a ‘rap sensibility’.
General Manager of Big Hit Music Shin Seon-jeong, who has worked with BTS since their trainee days, noticed the immense value of this method. While structuring the training programs for TXT and subsequent generations of artists, the T&D (Training & Development) department in HYBE turned Namjoon’s practice into a systematic educational requirement for all new trainees.
