Alea Nadeem Statement on Republican Primary Results

TOLEDO, OH  - Tonight, Alea Nadeem released the following statement in response to the primary election results:

“The voters have spoken, and Derek Merrin will represent the Republicans against Marcy Kaptur in November. I want to congratulate Derek and his family for running a competitive campaign—with the voters of northwest Ohio always top of mind. I am here to help, support, and cheer him on as he works to unseat an incumbent who has been in office since 1983.

Running for Congress is the kind of experience you can’t get any other way. You sit in living rooms, union halls, and church basements. You hear the worry in a parent’s voice when they talk about their kid’s future, and you see the pride in a small business owner’s eye when they show you what they built. Northwest Ohio opened its doors to me, and I will carry those conversations with me for the rest of my life. As a proud daughter of the Toledo area and this district, I am grateful for the opportunity to get even closer to my friends and neighbors.

This was one of the most challenging endeavors I have undertaken. I’ve said this many times, and it’s true: deploying to combat is easier than campaigning. As servicemembers, we get a lot of training for the profession of arms.  But nothing can prepare you for this.  Losing is never easy, but what I’ve learned in life is that you keep going.  I will keep going because I love this country, owe my life to it, and she is worth fighting for every single day.

To everyone who supported my campaign - thank you!  A special thank you to the military and veteran community; you were my rocks during this campaign. You showed up, believed in me, and even crossed the aisle to support me.  I am forever grateful. My only regret is that I could not win for you, for us, and for Northwest Ohio. I hope you do not feel your resources were wasted. I’ll continue to do my part. I can only hope you’ll do yours.

Regarding Data Centers in Northwest Ohio:

“I think this is one where we have to push this down to the states,” Nadeem said. “If you’re going to put a data center in someone’s backyard, why is the federal government involved in that?”
