@IndiaInShanghai @PratikMathur1 It was a great honor and a great pleasure for me to have the chance to combine my own jazz playing with my humble understanding of the great ocean of Indian music, and to have this wonderful opportunity to collaborate with and learn directly from master sitarist “Dr Murchana”!

[India In Shanghai @IndiaInShanghai]

Indian music rules the world 🌎 🎶 🎼 🙏🏼

💫 From East to West, 🇮🇳 musical traditions capture hearts and minds 💕

⭐️ Shanghai sways to the rhythm of Hindustani classical music

➡️ CG @PratikMathur1 felicitated noted Hindustani Sitar exponent Dr. Murchana Adhikary Barthakur on a successful visit to China, where the Sitar Maestro played to packed houses in reputed venues such as Shanghai Lincoln Center to universal acclaim.

➡️ At the performance last night at Shanghai Jazz Center Music Auditorium, Consul General also honoured Ms. Mandy Chen, China’s renowned tabla exponent, who has played a critical role in promoting Indian classical and traditional music amongst Chinese audiences.

➡️ CG also underlined the global resonance of Indian classical music by noting the important contributions of noted Jazz musician and composer Mr. Alec Haavik, who remains a strong friend of India and Indian art forms in the entire region.

➡️ The two week Hindustan classical music tour of the major cities in China, with sold out concerts once again underlined the importance of cultural exchanges which showcase our civilizational ethos and soft power.

Here’s a useful phrase for all musicians to learn, in English and the original Dutch...

@andrewhuang Here in the Netherlands we say: Only the sun goes up for free. 🙂 (voor niets gaat de zon op)

@andrewhuang “Well we can’t pay you, but this is great exposure!” (But did ya ever try to buy a sandwich with exposure...)

@benshapiro Ken Burns’ “Jazz”, ten-part magnum opus about America’s great art form. Absolutely fantastic and spell-binding documentary.

The #swingdance scene in Asia continues to be devastated by the Coronavirus. Yesterday, Thailand’s international #lindyhop event, the Big Bang, was shut down. Here are memories of a happier time in Thailand: Diga Diga Doo 2017. https://t.co/uiOpfnspya

“There’s some genius going on in Alec Haavik’s head!” My new album has gotten a super feature on the “Hey Mister Jesse” podcast, highly-esteemed and beloved review of new swing dance music. https://t.co/9FKUWYk0Vc
