The best I’ve been able to come up with is targeting in college football.
Should 90% of targeting penalties result in ejections, of course not.
Are there many instances when it does and the whole country agrees a player/team gets hosed, of course.
Thats how this call felt
Gudas dressing for a game in which he was too injured to play in, just so he could take his medicine is actually the exact opposite of being a bitch.
He didn’t throw a punch either. He knew he was in the wrong and let the leafs get their pound of flesh. Very honorable tbh
Since 2017:
• Iowa and Iowa State have both made two trips to their respective conference championship games (2)
• Iowa's overall win % is 68% to Iowa State's 57% but Iowa State has 13 wins against AP Top 25 teams to Iowa's 6
• Iowa has largely owned the series but hasn't won in Iowa City since 2018 and hasn't officially won a game in the series since 2021
Iowa has been better in the last eight seasons, there's no doubt. They also are certainly better historically, there's not an argument there. But in a day in age where history and tradition mean as little as it ever has, Iowa State is one of Iowa's peers, even if they don't want to admit it.
Iowa will never get a bid to the CFP by winning the conference. To get an at large bid they will need a P4 OOC win.
Iowa state will likely never get an at large bid, they will almost always need to win the conference to get in the CFP.
This game is now more important for Iowa
As it stands right now, 2026 is the penultimate Cy-Hawk Game.
With no game scheduled past 2027, it got me thinking. Does Iowa still benefit from playing this game every year?
My answer - no:

If you are the top 10-15 teams in the world and you can’t win your qualifiers, you deserve the embarrassment of not being at the World Cup.
This goes double for a 48-team event.
No automatic qualifiers.
Big news from Iowa State today: Alcohol sales are coming to Jack Trice Stadium this fall and Hilton Coliseum this winter.
Key points:
— No more leaving and re-entering Jack Trice Stadium during games.
— Two drinks per person, per purchase.
— Beer, wine and pre-packaged cocktails will be available.
— Alcohol will not be allowed on the grass hillsides/Jr. Cyclone Club areas.
— No alcohol vendors in seating areas.
— Sales will stop at designated points during games, like the end of the third quarter for football.
— Current club/suite/hospitality policies stay the same.
Iowa State says part of the proceeds will go toward alcohol education, student wellness and public safety improvements.
The right answer is probably B. However D gives you the lake of the ozarks, the Iowa state fair and Kansas City so is a sneaky good choice that nobody will talk about.
After a scrolling through Twitter, I can’t stop thinking about how US soccer should just lean into our college football culture. Nothing more American than that. Most passionate sport we have and it won’t feel like we are trying to copy or recreate a European thing.
The problem with this is based on how the teams have played so far. The US team might be the best looking in the tourney.
If every team is at their best, idk if the USA can hang with Spain or France. They might be able to. But I would need to see it actually happen first.
Serious question for knowledgeable soccer fans. Is there any country you have seen play so far in the World Cup that you think no way the US team could hang with?
