radicalized American film with with a dark, surrealistic artistic vision. visionary artists are often seen as hard, reclusive, or outright assholes, but David Lynch proved you could work at the highest level, have a ‘who gives a fuck’ attitude, and still lead with heart and humility. no one has ever understood the world like Lynch did. we’re lucky that he showed us what he saw. one of the truly great artists in the history of cinema. unapologetically Philly. he was 78.
thinking of watching Eraserhead for the 1st time with my best friend in his basement when we were like 14. we were already into death metal & noise & other art forms that we thought were SERIOUS BUSINESS but that movie made us into confused pathetic little protozoa. life changing
