Authoritative server based in Singapore, me in Australia with 19ms ping & our QA ( test #3236 on screen) with 300ms ping in Europe. Just sharing this as a quick example of the results we have experienced in QA regarding the interpolation smoothness we mentioned in our latest article.

To experience this kind of smooth responsiveness when I am connecting in Australia, to a server in Singapore playing with someone in Europe, is pretty cool.
These are the type of results we've experienced in QA & hopefully most testers have a similar experience, but that is the whole reason of the Pre-Alpha state, to test different PC & network environments, and then identify any issues, fix & improve.
We are going to test different server locations, starting with Singapore, and it would be useful to see how say a group of testers from Europe experience multiplayer on the Singapore server, a group between America and Europe, a group based only in Asian / Oceania.
Remember, this specific multiplayer system we are testing now is for the open world of #E2V1 & will mainly be for interactive experiences that will not always require fast responsiveness meaning people from different locations around the world can interact without too much risk of losing out on something if they have a slightly higher ping.
For experiences that involve PvP & even some Co-op PvE type experiences, we will run dedicated services for the specific group of Players participating, with options to select regional location, as those experiences will obviously require lower ping, more responsiveness and so forth. This has been covered briefly in the past but just reminding people again who may have missed that or forgotten.
Final reminder, if someone has a really bad internet connection & high ping they will glitch - we can't control how good someone's internet connection is. For those testing together who decide to do a live stream or even record then post later after editing, please try to share details about your ping, FPS (displayed constantly in the lower right corner) in stream or recording and also back to us via the usual tester reporting avenues - we appreciate it🙏

Not that I should really need to say anything as most people would know, but remember X only supports up to 1080 format, I think they actually force 720p, so the quality of the footage I have shared has been reduced to 720p by X.

This update is no longer a simple avatar release but a significant update to the entire foundation of the #E2V1 world. When I first talked about dropping avatars I was eager to keep things moving and referred to a very simple system to test skins and movement, then to subsequently implement the full version after that.
While this approach would have brought new content out quickly, it could have turned into weeks of extra development time with little upside for the wider community, apart from testing the movement and appearance of the avatars, there would have been little else to do until another subsequent update.
Therefore I made the decision to focus solely on implementing the core part of the full system we plan to use long term on the platform.
I apologise that this release will take a little longer than originally anticipated, having moved away from the initial lower spec'd plan, but I'd like to get this right & ready for a wider audience to start using and enjoying. As much as I'd love to push out updates faster, I will be taking this approach to #E2V1 development in the future as well.
The plan will still be to release to our testing group first after our internal QA, test and then stabilise. If all looks good and we're happy with how everything is performing, we will push forward with a public release.
There will inevitably be ongoing adjustments, additions and tweaks to these type of systems over time.
It may seem like a long time, but #E2V1 was only released to our testing group 7 weeks ago! How crazy is that? I know for me it feels like many months already.
Nonetheless, during this short period of time we have not only released a couple of updated versions, and an updated version to the Earth 2 Launcher, but the team has also been working incredibly hard on the #E2V1 and #BE mechanics for the Chapter 1 systems - and there is a lot involved in this upcoming release.
We will be dropping an article later this week, which I believe will help our community understand the extensive list of features planned for this release and in turn explain why it is taking a little longer. I'd rather not spoil all of the details, but the article contains a lot of information about the various systems we're developing including rules of life, avatar synthesisation, death, saving, skins, day/night cycles, free to play model, avatar vitals, how land ownership fits in with all of this and much more. It is important to keep in mind that each of these systems needed to be designed and implemented, which takes time.
The article will also begin to reveal some of the design plans I have been working on to increase utility for T1 land, which will also include various T1 classes. I also intend to follow through and expand utility on T1 land into other upcoming mechanics on the platform, some of which will be revealed in a separate article in the near future and are also part of the Chapter 1 release.
Ideally, all going well, we will be testing early multiplayer at some stage this quarter and as mentioned earlier this year #Hordes in Q3, #EggHunt in Q4 & maybe some early buildings on properties. In addition to these goals, we have a couple of wild card features floating around in between as well.
I know I reiterate it from time to time, but the long term goal for #Earth2 has not changed. We are building a #geolocational #metaverse - a platform! We still want #Players building cities, providing more individualised experiences, advertising, trading, shopping, e-commerce, socialising and so forth. And I still have plans to link #E2V1 into #AR and support #VR, but we cannot do all of this at once. I am also looking at ways we can expand the team and setup a studio, probably in East Asia, to speed up development.
The current features we're focusing on plan to expand utility for land on a wide scale & introduce various experiences inside #E2V1, providing potential benefits for land owners & #Players alike on a broader level, while at the same time allowing our team to introduce mechanics that will be used throughout the future of the platform, test limitations and work our way around challenges as they arise.

As I've noted a few times we will be advancing the #EcoSim next year amongst our plans to release #E2V1. I expect this to include the weaver which will generate raw materials & some factories to start building blocks & I'd love for this to happen inside #E2V1.
After the weaver & some factories, my next goal is to allow #EcoSim #Players to manufacture transportation ships & vehicles for logistics so trade & resource movement can begin.
Building placement will start on generally flat land (like in the real world, not building on cliffs or steep mountains etc). We have to start somewhere and I'd prefer to allow #Players with generally flat terrain to start placing buildings than to delay & solve technicalities for land on a mountain for example, where you wouldn't expect to build anyway.
I am thinking about allowing #Players to relocate their property once as well, but this would be a future feature inside #E2V1.
I have also not forgotten that my plan to allow building on water too, but only once we have finalised the rules for building on water. For example, building on water might start if the tiles are some what out in the ocean & not too close to the shoreline - there will be more to come on this.
#Players are free to do as they please with their $ESS of course, but I think there might be a few who realise just how big an advantage they had before they sold that $ESS. I am not guaranteeing anything, nor do I know for sure, it's just my opinion when considering the additional #Utility #Essence will have over time in the #EcoSim & other areas, especially consider how long it takes a each tile to mine a single #Essence. We are still going through a cycle of #Players who acquired #Essence during a period where it was a lot easier to acquire & in my opinion the actual need / #utility for both #Essence & #Land has not even begun to dawn yet ..

Few things to remember:
1⃣ this is just a little series we're sharing to showcase some of the work that goes on behind the scenes to bring things to life, which also acknowledges the hard work our #3D team put into creating these assets
2⃣ we asked our #3D team to record footage on some of the assets they work on, I think there was about 7 hours of footage for the skeleton video and I know some of the other videos had over 60 hours of footage. Our video team condense it down into a few minutes played at speed to showcase
3⃣ just because we are showcasing this now does not mean it's what the team is actively working on, nor does it mean it's the only thing the team has been working on. This footage was recorded months ago.
