@KejanHaynes Stupes. Who is trying to evacuate? We are FINE in the region. Any resident I know here prefers to wait it out, and going back to Trinidad isn't an option. Bomb shelters don't even exist here. Worse yet, he used the term 'Persian' Gulf.
Missiles got intercepted today.
I stepped outside expecting tension… and people were just living. Cafés full. Traffic normal. Kids out.
That’s when it clicked.
You only understand how strong your country is when life doesn’t stop, even when someone tries to shake it.
That’s it. 🇦🇪
@jonellesamai Young adults are smart enough and should have say through voting. Driving is a skill that doesn't require full brain development. In fact, there are many fully developed adults who do nonsense on the road. Alcohol on the other hand is the most lethal and dangerous drug currently
@ghijk87 Oh of course. She could never hold a govt on her own. But let's not lose perspective. She led a govt to win then for similar reasons she led a govt to win now. And, comparatively, I don't blame others for having some hope (even though I myself have little)
@GahyunsManager @AdeolaYoung1 Oh for sure it is. And politicians on both sides have used this to their advantage for decades. It should have been a catalyst for the creation of a single national identity. Instead, we continue to celebrate separate African and Indian cultures from distant mother lands.
@DondaOutsold@eparks07 Correlation does not equal causation for the UNC single terms. If one understands the systems set up by the PNM since inception, it would be easy to see why they are simultaneously the most responsible for our downfall today, and also the hardest to keep out of govt
@GahyunsManager @AdeolaYoung1 'Indians' from Penal are mocked and sidelined too though. Even by fellow 'Indians'. Not trying to discredit the very real racism that exists on both sides, but you can't pretend it's a one-way street. And you can't ignore that classism prioritises racism in certain settings.
@DondaOutsold@eparks07 If you knew how politics worked in T&T you would know other options aren't really options. It's ALWAYS get vex with PNM so vote UNC. Then get vex with UNC so vote PNM. I genuinely don't know why people think one is worse than the other.
@Anthony24SP@eparks07 PNM voter turnout wasn't that low. PNM got 287k votes to win the GE2020 (which we can estimate as a base), versus 220k in 2025. The UNC base is actually lower (about 195k) estimated by GE2015. This election was simply the swing voters saying PNM did enough garbage and had to go.
@868toya Fun fact: Carolyn Seepersad Bachan when she was Min of Public Admin under PP set up the Diamond Buzz project that would have centralized and digitized all govt services. It was in the roll out phase. When PNM got into power in 2015 they scrapped the entire thing. And here we are.
@jelinthemix If you don't know about aviation you really shouldn't be posting opinions as facts. CAL is, in fact, NOT safer compared to most "global airlines"
@__puncheonpapi A lot of event tickets work like this. Airline tickets work like this too. Cheaper tickets further out (therefore more sales) help raise capital for the organizers to cover expenses, and gives them an idea of how many people are interested so they can plan logistics.
@jonellesamai When was local politics ever about policies? PNM steals for the 1% and UNC steals for the middle class. That's about as ideological as you will get. Everything else is heavily about race.
