Today was another hearing in the EMAL case… and honestly, it’s heartbreaking to see how badly things were handled.
Main:

I took my healthy 3-year-old daughter for a dental procedure—she came back with permanent brain damage.

This is my real experience with Fatima Memorial Hospital (FMH) Lahore.

On 17 June 2025, my daughter Emal suffered cardiac arrest during a dental procedure due to severe medical negligence. She was taken in for routine treatment, but instead of being operated on in a proper and fully functional operation theatre, she was shifted to another OT where critical medical equipment was faulty.

Later, FMH’s own doctors admitted that this OT was jokingly referred to as a “slaughterhouse”—an OT most doctors avoided working in. Evidence of this admission exists.

During the procedure, my child was left unattended, received no oxygen for approximately 25–30 minutes, and no one noticed she was going into cardiac arrest. By the time the doctor returned, she was almost gone. She was revived through CPR, but the prolonged lack of oxygen caused irreversible brain damage.

What followed was even more disturbing.

The hospital concealed the truth, provided false and misleading explanations, delayed proper medical care, and repeatedly claimed it was merely an “anesthesia reaction” while my daughter’s condition continued to deteriorate. There was a clear shortage of doctors, a reckless attitude toward patient safety, and continuous denial and misinformation.

Today, Emal has lost her eyesight.
She cannot speak.
She cannot sit or move properly.
She cannot communicate.
These facts have been admitted by FMH’s own doctors and supported by evidence, yet the hospital continues to deny responsibility and claims it is not at fault.
The matter is sub judice, and I will share the progress of the court proceedings and evidence date by date.
I am speaking out not only for my daughter, but to demand accountability in our healthcare system so no other child suffers this fate.
