Fantastic overview of how this administration and FIFA have fucked up what should been a joyful event. Although, the Headline should really read "How the United States Broke the World Cup." Don't blame the rest of the Americas, please:

Out in July, the entire corpus of PLANETARY by myself and John Cassaday in softcover - I think it’s the first time the whole thing has been made available in in a single paperback edition. Thanks for @DCOfficial for keeping it alive for all these years.
So much “real men” this and “real men” that. Real men pick up their dog’s shit even in the middle of the night when no one’s looking. That’s it. Be decent. Always. Done. That’s a “real man.” What you wear or how you look or who you kiss doesn’t matter. Being decent matters.
Prepare yourself. Christopher Nolan's THE ODYSSEY is coming to the Music Box, presented in 70mm!
The epic adventure opens July 17th (Early screenings on July 16th). Shot on @kodak_shootfilm

As each day proves, there are no more larger publications where writers can survive and readers can get honest thoughts not driven by corporate interests. For now, we have to create our own things.
+ "Why shouldn’t Latin American stories be taken seriously when migrants & their home countries are political targets for destabilization and violence? And why shouldn’t CLFF…receive the same fervor and coverage as…Cannes? (Or at least the Chicago International Film Festival?)"
One of the best pieces I've read on the 42nd Chicago Latino Film Festival from @DaniellaMazzio. She asks some very tough questions of our film critics' community (both in Chi-town and nationwide). This one hits the spot: +

THREAD:
They say death comes in threes and that was the case the last week of April when three giants of Argentinean cinema, Academy Award winning director Luis Puenzo (THE OFFICIAL STORY), director Adolfo Aristaraín (TIME FOR REVENGE) +
+ his films are conspicuous by their absence in the US. Not even Criterion carries any of Aristaraín's titles in their catalogue. He is just one of many Latin American filmmakers whose work will remain unknown to unless some savvy risk-adverse distributor does something about it.
@Brian_Tallerico I had already big expectations for this one and boy, oh, boy, you are making me that much more eager to see it. Suspect it'll be picked up by Reeling or, most definitely, CIFF here in Chicago.
