the fact that nearly 3,000 people died in a terrorist attack and 9,000+ from exposure to the toxic remants is not funny, and I don't really think anyone is making fun of that
what IS funny is how the day itself became a nationalist political beacon the republican party hitched its entire identity to in the name of performative virtue-signaling patriotism shrouded in american flags and invoked as proof of who loves america the most (often by spineless, bigoted racists who wouldn't be caught dead in new york), who have since made every conceivable dogshit decision for the country to make all our lives worse as a result for the past 25 years instead of working to unite the country and bring us together like using the event to start a war for oil to enrich billionaires which ultimately led to the 2008 recession which we've never recovered from. that's irony, baby
The unspoken thing here is that the jaw drop is not actually due to the scale of the dust plume but specifically because it is happening in New York. The same video taken in Beirut or Tehran would never get the same reaction from the viewer.
started off laughing at the little Giant Baba gait he hits in those first few seconds then the video kept going and gradually none of it seemed so funny anymore
It's too late for me to be moved, as this should've happened in Montreal three years ago, but it's still objectively cool that El Generico won the actual Hogan/Austin/Rock lineage WWE Title.
Nostalgia is a tool of fascism, a warm, idealized version of a past that never truly existed. Do not catch yourself longing for The Corporate Wire Mother. There was no Golden Age; only advertisements for products that you were too young to defend yourself against.
