What's the story?
📌 Mahmoud Hassan Al-Hussein returned to his village of Saqarja in the countryside of Al-Qusayr, south of Homs, after being displaced by Assad's forces in early 2013. Upon his return, he demanded the return of his house and agricultural land, which had been seized by Hezbollah militia members after they took control of the area.
📌 A few days later, a group of the militia stormed Al-Hussein's residence and opened fire on him, resulting in his death and the serious injury of his wife and two children, who were taken to a hospital in Homs.
📌 The murder of Al-Hussein and the injury of his family members caused great fear among the residents who had their lands and properties seized after being displaced, making them hesitant to demand the return of their properties.
📌 It is noted that the city of Al-Qusayr and its surrounding villages are under the control of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, which controls southern Homs and eastern Qalamoun, with the Assad regime's forces and government offices limited to some civil affairs.
