Wishing our friends and fellow UK Overseas Territories, Anguilla, a very Happy Anguilla Day for yesterday! 🇦🇮
The National Day of Anguilla, Anguilla Day commemorates the Island’s Declaration of Independence in 1967. 📆
Today, together with the President of Finland, @alexstubb visited the 🇱🇹 border with Belarus.
Strengthening the protection & defense of the external borders of the EU & NATO is one of the highest priorities for Lithuania. Proud that we likely have the best-protected external border in the EU.
Note the fruitful cooperation with Finland for 30 years. 🇱🇹 has essentially adopted the 🇫🇮 border protection model.
Kiitos, Suomi!
We're delight to congratulate Lithuanian 🇱🇹 conductor Giedrė Šlekytė on being appointed the Music Director of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra! 🎶🇱🇹🇬🇧
She will become @RSNO's first female Music Director in its 135-year history Starting 2027-28 Season. Godspeed! 👏

The Russians want Ukraine’s permission to hold their parade – so they can safely take to the square for an hour once a year, and then go back to killing *our* people and waging war. The Russians are already talking about strikes after May 9. A strange and certainly twisted logic from the Russian leadership.
There are also messages from some states close to Russia that their representatives intend to be in Moscow. An odd desire at a time like this. We do not recommend it.
To members of the media: Please pay close attention to the ongoing Russian campaign of terror in Ukraine.
Over the course of just over 24 hours, Russian strikes have claimed numerous civilian lives:
- 7 people in Merefa (just outside Kharkiv) yesterday
- 5 people in Poltava today (double tap targeted and killed firefighters)
- 5 people in Kramatorsk
- 12 people in Zaporizhzhia
- 4 people in Dnipro just now
All of these numbers still may update, unfortunately, since doctors are fighting for the life's of the injured.
These strikes were intentionally launched on busy city streets in broad daylight to maximize casualties. These victims deserve to be remembered. This must be reported accurately, as a coordinated campaign of terror and murder, rather than isolated incidents that leave room for excuses.
When you’re in charge of the most powerful military in the world, your words matter. Recklessly saying “no quarter” — which is a violation of the laws of war — is one of many reasons Pete Hegseth is not qualified to be Secretary of Defense.
