@cruncherwax This is the root of the NHS productivity problem. The service is so under capacity that a huge amount of time is spent servicing that lack of capacity: docs & nurses reviewing pts waiting transfer instead of seeing the next patient, managers spending hours on escalation calls
@mgtmccartney@LucyGoBag If an employer conducts an investigation and passes their findings to the GMC, it will consider whether any concerns meet the threshold for undertakings, a warning or a FTPhearing. However, if an employer refuses to investigate a legitimate concern, there is little the GMC can do
@mgtmccartney@LucyGoBag This is unsurprising. The GMC's investigations are paper-based only. So it is wholly dependent on investigations conducted by other parties. It doesn't interview victims, witnesses, complainants, or doctors and has no power to compel disclosure.
@ShaunLintern What's being expressed is that even when executives or directors act vexatiously against patients, carers, or staff, there is no safeguard or remedy. The proposed solution may exacerbate this type of behaviour by raising the stakes. Does anyone have any better ideas?
@GreenDocScott@jim_crawfurd Some of this is about sexual violence and, in some cases, this includes sexual abuse perpetrated by health care staff. Is there any guidance about responding in a sensitive, trauma-informed manner that doesn't necessarily require disclosure of painful detail?
@alisonleary1@RITB_ "One bad apple spoils the barrel"
The point about bad apples is that unless removed early they release substances which cause fresh apples around them to start rotting. It's a metaphor for institutional corruption. Does it apply to concerns about the introduction of the PA role?
@nuwandiss This is existing NHS mental health trust regional crisis lines brought under a single national number so that you don't have to look up a different 0845 number for each area. There's likely to be variation in service models
@alisonleary1 This is about accessing regional crisis mental health phone lines via a single national number, instead of having to look up a different number for each area
