You think the VAR officials in the booth didn’t see the exact same thing that we did?? They definitely saw it, and saw every angle just like the rest of us. They deducted it wasn’t a foul so there was no need for the head official to stop play for 5 minutes and take a look at it. It’s literally standard procedure and they acted exactly how they were supposed to.

By the rules of VAR the correct decision was made on the Egypt goal that was disallowed.
The offensive play starts at the spot of the turnover. The turnover happened because of a foul. It doesn't matter if its at the other end of the field as long as the offensive play is not interrupted, which it wasn't. Hence, no goal.
Good VAR here.

Playing any sport endangers the safety of its players?? I understand the sentiment but intent and severity need to play a factor in delivering a direct red card. If a player jumps in the air and comes down on an opponents leg, it’s not even a foul. The discrepancy is wild. IMO the rule needs to change so the punishment fits the crime. A direct red is way too harsh for an accidental but very normal motion that happens while playing the game

Honestly I don’t think either deserves a red. I’ve seen this called a red, a yellow or nothing it at all. It’s so hard to judge these bang bang plays but everyone is an expert when you can pause and screenshot a frame that fits your narrative.

IMO intent and recklessness needs to be a driving force for a straight red…anyone who has ever played the game knows that accidental contact with the studs happens very often during the course of a game. Sure it’s a foul and maybe a yellow depending on how late the challenge is but a straight red is VERY harsh in a lot of these situations. It reminds me a lot of Gerard Martins overturned red during the season, which was 100% the correct call.
