This is absolutely terrifying.

In Huddersfield a gang of 5 men led by Rayhaan Saleem, 19, started breaking into a property when they realised just a girl and her mum were home

The mum rang police who told her to barricade herself and her daughter in a room which they luckily managed to do

The police arrived within minutes and arrested the men at the scene finding a machete as well

This all happened in the early hours of the morning

The attack happened in May but they've just been sentenced this week, the leader, Saleem has been sentenced to just 26 months in a young offenders institute!

This was a difficult piece to write. It was also necessary.

I am one of the 8,711 victims warned that our attackers could be released early under Labour’s scheme. People should know who stands to benefit.

Malcolm James, then in his late fifties, kidnapped me in 2019, shortly after my fourteenth birthday. He held me for several hours and repeatedly sexually assaulted me.

I remained silent until Sarah Everard disappeared. She was abducted from a road that crosses the one from which I had been taken. I feared that the same men were responsible, and that my silence had allowed it to happen again.

James was convicted of five sexual offences against a child. He is a repeat offender with previous convictions, including for violence. I already believed his eight year sentence was inadequate. Now he may be released earlier still.

Andy Burnham has promised to review this scheme. He must exclude rapists, child sex offenders and repeat violent criminals.

I refuse to have spent longer securing justice than James spends in prison.

In 2023 it was assigned SEVENTY SIX Certificates of Sponsorship.

In just a single year. 

Countless similar businesses – barbers, fast-food shops, and dessert parlours – also held certificates to sponsor so-called skilled workers.  

Is slicing shawarma what comes to mind when you think of high-skilled labour?

This is what “honour” looks like in 2020s Britain.

A 21-year-old starts seeing a 17-year-old girl. Her brothers don’t approve. So a masked gang drags him from his front door in Telford in broad daylight, legs hanging out the boot of an Audi, and takes him to a shipping container.

They strip him, tie him to a chair, and torture him for hours while filming him begging for forgiveness. Then they phone his dad and demand £20,000 or they’ll kill him.

He only escaped because later, when two of them got out of the car, he locked the doors, saw the keys were still in the ignition, and drove himself to a takeaway for help.

He was left with a fractured eye socket, a torn retina, broken ribs and severe bruising. He now suffers PTSD and rarely leaves the house.

Five men just got a combined 37 years. Three of them (including the two brothers) got 7½ years each. The judge said it was driven by “perceived family honour”.

This isn’t British culture. This is an imported system that still treats women, and any man who dates them without family permission, as property to be punished. It arrived with certain communities and has been allowed to take root while people look the other way.

While we’re told all cultures are equal, actual young men are being tortured in storage units over “honour”.
