We must ask ourselves where were the so called “defenders of democracy?!” What happened to the possibility of a presidential pardon?! The state killed an innocent man- where is the outrage by the so called leaders of this country?!

A democracy that sponsors lynchings is not the democracy our ancestors fought and were killed for. This white supremacist capitalist system continues to be the same enslaving, genocidal, terrorist system that pillaged nations and stole bodies to build wealth for some at the expense of the many.

This is the democracy the ruling class tells us to “defend.” This is the fascistic nature they want to us to think is coming- but it’s here!

As I put my brown baby boy to bed, I think of the many innocent lives stolen by this deadly system, and can’t help but feel rage and deep sadness. We must protect our babies, our families, our loved ones. We must be fueled by outrage for these heinous acts against our communities, for these crimes against humanity and we must feel a deep love for our people- and continue this fight with more resolve.

This is class war! It is our lives or their system. I choose our lives a million times.
