@CTVNews Cry? They're literally ramming the bill WITHOUT DEBATE which is part of the Westminster system. You know, the same system you said allowed for floor crossers to hand over a majority to the Liberals. Who writes these loaded and bias headlines? Lenin's grand kids?
Now, now. We're told @melaniejoly that we're bagging highly productive left-wing scholars from the States - who then leave again. As well as putting a hard cap on Chinese EVs that will make us a 'world leader' in cars.
Canada strong brah.

Meanwhile, in Canada 'fans' booed the U.S. flag. Can't even shut it for a world event. Been watching since 1982. Never saw a country boo a country it was CO-HOSTING. Wild. Petty. It's good the quarters on are in the States. Canadians don't deserve it.

Different how if it's vague and without a clear direction other than 'we have to try for the kids!' Plenty of reasonable people are posting to this as an invitation for unintended consequences that could make the cure worse than the disease. Thank you for the response.
One of the all-time great lies:
Pandemic of the unvaccinated.
If you believed that crap please read my 'How not to be played' book.
Well, it's a book I'd write if I wasn't busy and lazy.
For the kids. Huh. Like how they stole three years of their lives with the unscientific and unethical lockdowns. That was ok though 'because safety'. Kids weren't in danger of Covid nor did they pose a threat. But we shoved masks on them and locked down anyway. For the children!
We were more permissive with my daughter. But many of our friends weren't with their kids. They proved it can be done and no need to have the government and experts swing in on a chandelier with 'for the kids' laws that in the end will expand to ADULTS.
We already have preliminary data from Australia showing a mixed bag. Meaning, it won't likely improve or lead to added protection. Why are we ignoring it? Are we smarter? We want to allow kids u-16 to vote and elect for gender affirming care but social media is the line drawn?
I'm waiting for the Bill C-34 Op-Eds from the hundreds of thousands of Canadian moms and dads with kids who are anxious, depressed, and disconnected from reality, thanks to Big Tech companies profiting from harmful algorithms, unwanted contact from predatory adults, manipulative ad content, infinite scroll design, and worse.
Maybe they agree the bill isn't perfect, but perhaps they are relieved that it's a solid, sensible step in the right direction. Or maybe that doesn't get as many clicks as the words "censorship" and "regime"?
Is trusting the state with its own peculiar selfish calculus over tech companies 'sensible'? Top-down censorship could be an unintended consequence. Don't belittle it. Competition and transparency is key - and the government isn't very good at either. It's a bad law.

It isn't just 'imperfect' it's vague and warped with over reach that threatens to undermine stated objectives. Real solutions over performative legislation. I know parents who actively monitor their kids. Empower REAL responsibility and enforce existing laws against CSAM.

You've likely seen the headlines from bills C-34, C-36, and C-22 in the media.
Each may sound reasonable on their own: protect kids online, modernize privacy, help police catch criminals.
But buried within is an emerging Digital Regulatory Superpower unlike anything Canadians have ever seen.
These bills hand one unelected commission power over what Canadians can say, what stays private, and who the state can watch.
As of today, the Federal Government is rushing to enact massive Internet Surveillance Reform into law without proper debate.
@gary_srp@MayorOliviaChow@TeamKerzner@TorontoPolice We showed our colours by booing the U.S. anthem.
The lack of decorum and self-awareness is hilarious. No USA, no games in Canada. We have but barely 2 world class soccer facilities. The USA has high school facilities better than our pro stadiums.
@CTVNews Surprised it hasn't been replaced by 'Hockey Night in ______ (insert country flavour of the day here). Hockey Night in Somalia.
We ruined one of the great institutions in all of sports with HNIC. Firing Grapes didn't help.
Libs ramming 22 through. No debate. No amendments. Remind me about democracy again? Potential unintended consequences: Reduced choices, higher costs, and reliance on less trustworthy services. Good job @gary_srp in pushing Canada further into a police state and hermit kingdom.
@EvanLSolomon Know what hurt kids? Three years of lockdown. Three years stolen from them. Never at risk nor did they pose a risk. But the government and schools locked down anyway. Never forget.
No one cares about the kids. Unless it's for POLITICAL gain.
