ON THIS DAY: The Boston Red Sox came back from down 3-0 to beat the New York Yankees in Game 7 of the ALCS 🙌
22 Years later, and it still feels surreal 🤩
@nottelling83@Heidiphotos I’m told she has a broken rib, her hand will need surgery, stitches in her lower back, her leg is in pretty rough shape and various other bruises and injuries from being beaten with a stick and kicked so many times. Hence the hospital.
Nice of you to be so genuinely concerned.
Dozens of masked Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian villagers trying to gather their autumn olive harvest. Heidi Levine, a veteran photographer for The Post, was also knocked her to the ground, kicked repeatedly and stripped of her camera and phone.

@Ranger22421@Heidiphotos Because I think anyone who would defend that (obviously heinous) practice is probably not swayed by my tweeting but I have seen people within my community defending or downplaying Hilltop Youth-style violence like this. Thanks for your good faith question, man.
@Mostofsky Sorry, man. No names were changed at Ellis Island, ever. Either someone in your family lied or they just fudged up the truth a little and Ellis Island is shorthand for a different interaction — most likely a voluntary one.
@MyKidIsWeird1@CleverTitleTK Please check the link. It never happened partially because agents there didn’t have the power to change your name. I’m sorry. Our family stories are important to who we are.
@iamreddave They changed their name on the passenger manifest paperwork, not their legal identity, but if you’re going to try to poke a hole in the argument, it’s your best bet. I respect it as a fellow pedantic, but it doesn’t really hold.
@AudrianaCB@chromefarts247 Ok but the distinctions are very important. The names weren’t changed for them by imperious clerks. Here’s a lovely and accessible starting point on it from the genealogist Jennifer Mendelsohn, who compiled it for exactly the thing you’re asking. https://t.co/ZfjAGLZQ7z
@MyKidIsWeird1 It didn’t! But genuinely, don’t listen to me, check out the FAQs compiled by the wonderful genealogist @CleverTitleTK

@chromefarts247 Maybe it was transliterated wrong at point of origin - and none of my pedantry is to say immigration didn’t have a HUGE effect on immigrant’s names. It just didn’t happen at Ellis Island.
Guys, people starting to get very fired up and name-calling others in the comments.
There’s no need for that - it’s extremely low-stakes, I promise you!!!
