@SageCanaday@Scienceofsport Agreed. But speaking to the original point, multiple factors (temperature, shoes, wind, talent, high-carb gels) added up to something like a perfect day for a sub-2 attempt. Would be wonderful to know what the shoes are doing but it’s just one piece of a puzzle.
@Scienceofsport Worth considering, there was a rare tailwind at the London Marathon yesterday. Light wind blowing due east to west pushed runners down Embankment (when Sawe sped up). Wind usually blows west to east in London, so headwind turns to tailwind = helpful.
