2/✔️ SARS-CoV-2 results were fairly concordant across labs
❗ PMMoV results less so
As we tackle global #OneHealth challenges with wastewater surveillance, we must keep these sources of variability in mind. This is key to establishing reliable trends and data aggregation. 🚀
1/ Ever wonder what raw wastewater surveillance data looks like— before jurisdictions transform it for trending?
Our new paper examines how comparable results are from 15 🇨🇦 labs estimating SARS-CoV-2 & PMMoV concentrations.

@dacaldar@STSWR Agreed this is a poor decision. @STSWR has amongst the softest thresholds for calling a snow day and bus cancellations. I suggest a lot more transparency to demonstrate how bus cancellations are called.
I'm struggling to find labs that have environmental/ wastewater SARS-CoV-2 testing within their scope of accreditation. One reference was made in 2020 (https://t.co/izPfdmKiH6).... Are ANY labs currently accredited for this service?
Ishi Keenum is the lead author of a paper in the American Journal of Public Health titled "Optimizing Wastewater Surveillance." This work highlights the importance of standardized reporting for public health. 📝 #PublicHealth#Research#AJPH

Awesome news for @Ptbohealth! Glad to see these efforts will be sustained.
On the other hand, it’s the smaller municipalities that will lose the most from the cancellation of the provincial program. We need to do better from an health equity lens.
So pleased that @Ptbohealth Board of Health, with the leadership of Chair @lalalalachica see the value for wastewater surveillance data for COVID & pandemic preparedness & has decided they will continue to support this work & partnership with Dr. Kyle @TrentUniversity locally.

@shitsheaux It’s unfortunate how often the “bio” part of biochemistry is forgotten. I’ve seen some interesting approaches to standard curves…..including an attempt at generating a standard curve that starts at 20 gc/rxn…and extends down to 0.001 gc/rxn.
