@SpannersReady I guess you would have go through all his wet races to see if his overall finishing was better or worse than his average position in the dry. I don’t think either of us feel like putting in that much effort ;)
@SpannersReady It did work pretty often though. He won 5% of his races overall, but 18% of his wet races. And he has the 4th most wet race wins ever - only behind Schumacher, Hamilton, and Senna https://t.co/JMDhyaLA88
@MissedApexF1@ChrisOnRacing For sure - it restricts your ability to do a full 180. I guess my worry is that it might turn F1 into even more of a copycat sport. Restricting a team’s ability to spend its way out of a problem also significantly increases the risk of going your own way and getting it wrong

MLBPA: you promised steak
MLB: [/rips burger in half] here have two burgers
MLBPA: that’s not two burgers
MLB: can make it four burgers if you want no problem
The two most overrated COVID terms right now are "spikes" and "second wave". We never really exited the first wave! And in particular, the places that are seeing big increases right now tend to be places that *didn't* get hit all that hard in March/April and maybe got complacent.
@snarkygolfer @ClayTravis No shit Karl. That was the argument for closing a month ago because we let this spread to a really dangerous level. Clay is saying that the “blue check mark brigade” want to keep everyone quarantined until we have a vaccine. That’s a complete straw man
@ChadMG34 @SiterletJ@ClayTravis It is the obvious question and I don’t pretend to have the answer. But I think it’ll require at least 2 weeks of decline in our # of active cases. We also just need more data. Herd immunity for covid happens at well over 50% infected and even NYC isn’t there yet
@SiterletJ@ClayTravis Is this supposed to be a gotcha question? The next steps are obvious: let the existing cases decrease until we have a minimal number and continue to develop our ability to identify and track new cases. Then you slowly reopen society in a way that minimizes risk. This isn’t hard
@ClayTravis That isn’t the argument people make you hack. The argument is that we need to slow the spread in order to give us time to implement the measures needed to contain viral spread in an open society. These measures will allow us to effectively isolate new cases once society reopens
@james94_SF @katehinds@MarketUrbanism Yeah that’s definitely still a problem. But as the actual infected population gets larger the contribution of that effect should get smaller. Same with the effect of false positives. NYC’s larger infected population should make this study inherently more accurate than the USC one
