Just a quick update: I'm still working on the MJ update, except that now I'm porting BuildCraft to 1.14/fabric and so the first test releases for the MJ update (7.99.25) will be on 1.14.x (for fabric).
@Jackthethird2 1.16.x BC will use a new MJ, which will be very different from 1.12 MJ (and techreborn energy). So no, but please wait until it's actually released before deciding if it's a bad thing :p

@epicacrylic No change unfortunately - I'm not going to switch away from fabric at this point. (Fabric - forge compat is still a possibility that other mods can look into though, so I'm not saying that BuildCraft will never work with forge mods).

As a side note I'm still working on the MJ update but it's unlikely to land on 1.12.2. I'll start teasing features when it's a lot closer to releasing though :)
@SuperSandro2000 But you're looking at this from a player's perspective, not a mod developer - updating to versions which fix performance issues (which don't even affect buildcraft!) is a lot easier to do if I get started sooner rather than later.
Note that the first releases won't be on curseforge (or even on the main downloads page of the BC website) as I don't expect it to be finished immediately.
In addition I'm taking this time to improve some of the core parts of the codebase - for example pipe pluggables will no longer be fixed to a single side, which (theoretically) allows for placing both a gate and a (hollow) facade on the same side of a pipe. Also, pipe brackets!
