My son is 15
I never bought him a pride onesie when he was a baby.
I never read him a book that had two moms as part of the storyline.
When he was little stores and businesses didn’t have LGBTQ+ displays and we didn’t celebrate pride month.
He was raised Catholic, and went to church.
Guess what? He is gay.
The rainbow won’t make your kids gay. They are born that way. A display in a store won’t make your kid trans, they are born that way.
If you don’t love and accept them for who they are, YOU are a shitty parent.
They haven’t failed, you have.
Romantic relationships can become a parent-child relationship if we aren’t aware.
This creates resentment.
We aren’t meant to parent a partner.
We aren’t meant to watch over them to make sure they complete tasks.
We aren’t meant to have to check in with a partner for permission on a daily basis.
Intimacy comes from two equals, evolving together as adults.
on attendance parties:
rewarding children for having strong immune systems is ableist
rewarding children for having access to reliable transport is classist
rewarding children for coming to school sick is dangerous
rewarding children for things beyond their control is _______
“Independent girl” conditioning is really self protection. The facade becomes: I don’t need anyone, no one can hurt me. But underneath you’re a sensitive soul, who cares a lot and wants deep connections. The right people want to see your vulnerability. They’ll show you how to trust. They’ll teach you you don’t have to live life on guard, anymore.
I had a table watch me catch my coworker mid-seizure (which resulted in a pulled muscle&pinched nerve) hold his convulsing body on my lap for 15 minutes, help ems, get up covered in vomit & drool… & the first thing they did was complain they didn’t get their side of bacon lmfaoo
You deserve a calm love with someone who’s good for your mental health and nervous system. Someone who gives you that "I feel safe with you" energy, and has your back no matter what. Someone who is patient, your best friend, and brings peace to your soul during stressful times.
I genuinely do not believe people treat you how they feel about you, I believe they treat you based on the state of mind they’re in. Some people unintentionally hurt you because they’re at war with themselves & suffering with things that has nothing to do with you.
I can think of a single image that better explains where our country is now. We spend 2x on healthcare and get far worse results than other countries due to a right-wing U.S. belief that we can't "afford" universal healthcare, when what we really can't afford is not having it.
Me: the amount of laundry in this family is unbearable! We will never fully be through our laundry!
Also me: oooo that’s so cute, the babies really need more clothes!
Eating food as an American is so depressing because everyday it's like "did you know that thing you've been eating since you were 6 is a class 1 carcinogen and illegal in 87 countries"
This may be hard to hear but, being avoidant is not a boundary. Avoiding a problem, person or a conversation isn’t a sustainable resolution. Boundaries are intentional & assertive, not passive and reactive.
Gentle parenting is actually about you learning to manage your anger and emotions, you working on your communication style, you learning to affirm more than you criticize, you learning to be patient, gentle parenting isn't just about the kids,it starts with reparenting yourself.
