What with one thing and another I've been a mite distracted of late
But here's a little announcement

@AlecMarsh@CarolJFW Thank you Alec
It's an honour to be included amongst such illustrious Ricardian authors - and to have been nominated at all!
Many thanks to all on the panel who've taken notice of my books - despite their being for children!

Happy #WorldBookDay2026
It is for me!
'The Order of the White Boar' has been named no. 11 in '100 most important & influential Ricardian books ever' (fiction) by the Richard III Society
And the icing on the cake? That's 1 place higher than Shakespeare๐คฃ

It's World Book Day and I would like to recommend one of my favourite history books (among so many) - Perkin, by Ann Wroe. Brilliant and unputdownable!
It's #WorldBookDay so I'm giving away two signed copies of the Waterstones Special Edition of Blockbusters - which includes new material and a donation to BookTrust - to someone who RTs this
With all the awful things going on in the world, this may seem trivial, but...
I am absolutely tickled pink that Sir Mickey Pallin is receiving rave reviews for his first comedy performance for about 30 years. He's always been the funniest of the Pythons ( except for Eric Idle, of course ) and I want to congratulate him with all that is left of my heart
My first event of the Yuletide season!
Why not pop by and say hello - and browse all the wonderful festive stalls?
North Halifax Grammar school Winter fayre - this Saturday 11-2

@Sally_writes 3s 6d? I don't recognize the artwork. I think my second-hand editions were still priced in 'old money' (as it was called back in the dark ages...) - possibly with decimal price in brackets? (?18p?)
Obviously if you had them from new, they'll have been rather more than that...
@bo66ie29 Ice Breaker was divine. I remember the first time I was ever given a whole bar to myself, maybe aged about 10?
Several of the others are still around, maybe with different packaging - Bournville (still my Dad's fave), curlywurly, Fruit & nut, finger of fudge, Aero, etc
@exitthelemming So sorry to you and your family for your loss - heartbreaking to lose both your parents within such a short time
But what joy they brought to us over many years of lives well lived - there will be many sending thanks and raising a glass to your mother today ๐
@sianwilliams100 mincemeat with grated apple, spiced cider and apple jelly (my fave!), any number of other jellies with blackberries etc., blanche and freeze if you have room/patience, store (one of our trees stores quite well, sadly the other doesn't). It's great after last year's abysmal crop
Middleham Castle - home of King #RichardIII
Always a magical place
And tomorrow, I'll be returning!
So why not come along and say hi - at my stall in the usual place outside the gateway
Books at bargain prices too!
Hope to see you there ๐๐๐๐

@mlduncan7 Of course - and I was retraumatized when Ted had to go in the washing machine to get him clean after our house fire... ๐ฑ(It had to be done though!)
My 88-year-old mum was recently reunited with her Teddy - possibly our most emotional moment after she had to go into a care home
Where will you be this coming weekend?
I'll be back 'home' at Middleham Castle for the annual Richard III festival along with speakers, fellow authors and of course re-enactors. Not to be missed!
Come and say hello if you're in the area
