This is a great view. I agree with your point, but man, the gather and the step back are functionally the same at the same time. I don't think that's the kind of travel that's ruining the game. Given the amount of debate on this thread, and your great video (fyi great angle) it feels marginal enough.
I have ZERO idea how refs are supposed to look at the gather, check his feet, and monitor the defender at the same time, all while this happens in less than a second.
@PatchesThaHyena@thomaschattwill I honestly don’t see it. But def a fair point. I don’t think the rises to the level of ruining the game like some of the shit that others get away with. Pivot foot sliding a little with contact from the defender feels like a pretty consistent rule .
That’s a fair point. But it happens in .3 seconds and could be a step, or a jump.
My point is more, compared to the some ridiculous shit like Gianni’s getting 5 actual steps, this just feels impossible for refs to call because you have to split hairs between a step and a jump while watching the body, hands etc.
One quarter into the NBA Finals, Jalen Brunson is affirming the concerns people have about small guards being able to win it all.
The closer you get. The more physical it gets. So far, Brunson’s body is betraying him.
I don't like shitposting online. I really don't. But as an angry New Jersey resident and father of 2, I gotta say, ya'll are absolute clowns. The trains are insanely unreliable. I've missed multiple bedtimes and multiple meetings because of your incessant delays. And now this? A courtesy bull? What are ya'll doing all day? Honestly, @NJTRANSIT and @GovSherrillNJ are eroding my faith in the government's ability to deliver critical services. And we're not asking for much, just that trains run on time so we can get to work and back to our families with some predictability.
@moseskagan@IQfor3 noticed the same thing - my guess is he so tall that if he jumped and had a natural release point the basket would be a 18 inches below the release? Making the arc of the ball kind of awkward?
@mattyglesias Some of my best friends grew up in stuy town. I spent a lot of time there. Honest question - what’s wrong with it? It should just be normal blocks?
Spurs don't play a double big line-up, so I'm less worried about the match-up. Also, zero idea what to do about Wemby without Mitch. Also they have big guards, not big forwards. There's no one in their top 8 taller than 6'8" except wemby.
I'm mostly thinking about the Thunder iHart/Chet line-ups, where we could run our own double-big line-up of towns/Sochan.
Or if towns is resting and it's only one of the thunder bigs, I think Sochan can hold his own defensively.
