@Mic_Lo1 Hello Michaela, the establishment of PAs can be very variable depending on the political and social context of each country. Sometimes governments declare PAs without consideration of people. Sometimes it may require decades of battles with opposite forces.

A challenge still pending to be resolved in OECMs is the evaluation mechanism for aspects of equity and effectiveness. Evaluation is a process that is anticipated to be participatory, self-managed and voluntary, whose methodologies are still in development.

The motivations of landowners to establish conservation agreements are related to the sense of belonging to the territory, nature stewardship as a sociocultural heritage, maintenance of people's traditions, and anticipated economic benefits from wildlife use.
