There is a lot of disinformation and misinformation about the Just Stop Oil protesters.

Whether you think they were right or wrong to do what they did, it is worth knowing some of the elements the judge noted when sentencing them:

Every single one of the JSO protesters was already on bail for another offence.

They all each had at least one prior conviction for similar acts.

They plotted to cause even more damage than they did, but in the end caused issue for four days.

They caused 708,523 vehicle delays.

The cost incurred by the police alone was £1 million to deal with it.

They prevented people from reaching funerals.

They caused a 2 month delay in a woman's cancer treatment.

They delayed kids with special needs from reaching school.

They delayed food delivery to a hospital.

They were not charged with peaceful demonstration - they were not even charged with demonstrating at all: they were charged with conspiracy to intentionally cause public nuisance, to a degree far greater than the already great amount they achieved.

As I say, this is not a comment on whether they were right, or wrong, or whether they should be greatly admired, or loathed, but it is worth being factual about the context of their sentences, following the jury finding them guilty.
