@RutgersAltRoute Q5, Next year I plan to better recognize and identify when a student is being bullied or bullying in order to minimize the risk of it and prevent it.
@RutgersAltRoute Q3: I meet with my team and coach each week to discuss any issue arising. Keeping an open communication between home and school is key. Some issues may lead to a referral to the I&RS committee, or may need involvement from the school counselor, CST, or admin.
@RutgersAltRoute Q2. As a teacher setting expectation of what is acceptable and not acceptable and having a 0 tolerance policy while maintaining a welcoming learning environment for all, tremendously helps minimize the risk of bullying occurring.
@RutgersAltRoute Q1. I set standards and expectations in my class as to how everyone should be treating each other. This helps to avoid any mistreatment between students while in class.
@RutgersAltRoute I view virtual learning as a detour from our regular activities and practices, which is no where close to being as effective as the path that student would otherwise be on.
@RutgersAltRoute@Tolerance_org@NEAToday Q6 #AltRtEd#EdTech Next year, if we still need to participate in some kind of virtual learning, I plan to CC parents on communication with students earlier than I did this year.
@RutgersAltRoute Q5 #AltRtEd#EdTech Since my students range from freshmen to seniors, when it comes to their school work, I feel that they should be treated more like adults, rather than like kids. I try to communicate with students and leave the communication with parents as a last resort.
@RutgersAltRoute Q4#AltRtEd#SpEd There are many benefits that technology presents including, ability to connect with parents. As for the downfalls of it, remote learning has demonstrated that students are not nearly as engaged while learning from home as they are when in the classroom.
@RutgersAltRoute Q3 I've been very fortunate to have a very responsive mentor, and a very tech savvy head of guidance at my school. Likewise, the discussion of different tools and practices shared with my Rutgers peers has been extremely beneficial.
@RutgersAltRoute Q2 #AltRtEd#EdTech I think the hardest obstacle to overcome in the virtual setting was to get some students to do the work. Having contact with parents and counselors was a good way of resolving that issue...for the most part.
@RutgersAltRoute A1#AltRted#EDTech Considering that I teach high school business with student ranging in grade 9-12, I found that the use of technology is a must! I feel like an effective way of engaging students is to let them know that this is the work which adults in the field will do.
@RutgersAltRoute Q6 Graphic organizers is something that I should probably use as an adult with ADHD and it will probably be helpful for my students as well.
@RutgersAltRoute Q5 I currently do not use any fidget tools which I will consider incorporating once we go back to classroom environment...which will hopefully be SOON!
@RutgersAltRoute Q3 Diversifying your teaching style and incorporating various ways of presenting material such as visuals, verbal, video, diy, and more.
@RutgersAltRoute Q2 In my opinion, the best way is to provide positive feedback on job well done and encourage that student to continue trying their best.
@RutgersAltRoute A1 The biggest challenge is understanding the point of problem for a specific student as one size does not fit all. Likewise, it is modifying material to ensure no room for error or misunderstanding is left.
