I'm sadly no longer able to make it today but if you're attending the BIOPOLE session you'll still be able to hear about some algal growth experiments in Svalbard, as well as other exciting work from the BIOPOLE team! Big thanks to Alanna for organising the session!
If you're attending Arctic Science Summit Week in Edinburgh, come along to our @BIOPOLE_NERC session on Friday! Learn more about our work assessing the effects of a changing cryosphere on nutrient transport from land to sea in polar ecosystems.

❄️ Dipping our toes into Arctic waters... In the first of two blog posts, @alannagrant123 and colleagues describe a month of thrilling polar science in Svalbard as part of the @BIOPOLE_NERC project!

@thames_travel Is there a way you could post these updates somewhere, like on the app or your website? I.e once you receive notice a bus has broken down it's posted somewhere promptly so that people relying on these services are somewhat in the know.
And that's a wrap on the first @BIOPOLE_NERC land based field campaign! What an incredible month. Over 1500 samples collected including water, sediment, #GHG, and eDNA. Big thanks to everyone who has helped us make this a success!

Back home after an amazing 2 weeks in Ny Ålesund, Svalbard as part of the @BIOPOLE_NERC project with @UK_CEH, where I was conducting algal growth experiments in rivers. What an absolutely stunning place!
A second #FieldworkFriday post because this place deserves it! Ny Alesund is such a stunning place to work. Two more weeks to go and lots more to do! Now back to the lab to filter all the water samples we've collected today.

A fantastic weekend spent with Simon Armatige, the poet laureate, recording for BBC Radio 4. We saw some amazing icebergs and our first polar bear of the trip! Lots more to do for the rest of the month. @BIOPOLE_NERC@UK_CEH@BAS_News@ArcticStationUK
It's been a good couple of days supporting the @UK_CEH team who have been busy setting up an algae trap in Bayelva and doing some water sampling below Feiringbreen as part of the @BIOPOLE_NERC project. #UKinArctic@BAS_News@NERCscience.
@OxfordBusCo it would be really useful if you let your customers using the X39/X40 know about reduced services before they happen, for example the 08:05 X40 from Reading never turned up and people had to wait in freezing temperatures for almost 40 minutes!
