Two more girls and their mother have been rescued from a temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine as part of the President of Ukraine’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, with the support of the @helpingtoleave team.

The woman lived with her two daughters in a temporarily occupied territory. Because her brother had previously served in the Ukrainian army, Russian soldiers repeatedly came to their home for checks and interrogations.

Despite constant pressure, the girls refused to attend a Russian school and continued their education online in a Ukrainian school. One day, while their mother was away, Russian soldiers came to the house for yet another “inspection.” They filed a report and declared that the family was obliged to obtain Russian documents and immediately send the children to a Russian school. Before leaving, they issued a direct threat: after three such reports, the children could be forcibly taken away from their family.

This became the breaking point. Understanding the danger her daughters faced, the woman decided to leave and turned to Helping to Leave for assistance. The organisation helped the family safely reach territory controlled by Ukraine.
