I have been blown away by the level of support for Pancreatic Cancer research! Tonight we will be lighting up our house purple in support of Pancreatic Cancer research (like this shot) and I’m also running 100kms - including another 10kms today. #PCUK

@LiviaBellona @SeamusBlackley So did ChatGPT on my phone! Perhaps a PICNIC issue? ChatGPT even proactively suggested that a wolf or a cabbage would make it a harder problem…
@NickOwen50@NJM71 My state pension age has been changed more than once, and I haven’t received a letter about it … but then I didn’t get an individual letter promising anything either! I’m sure Ombudsman will see sence on this one, or else it’ll be a PPI-style frenzy all over again!
@BBCNews you may want to fact check the story Johnson allies to be criticised over Partygate probe. Particularly “The cross-party committee has seven members, of which four are Tory MPs, two Labour and two from the Scottish National Party.”4+2+2> 7 https://t.co/ZIdpmDa7Tc
Another small excess this week (3%) takes 2023 year-to-date mortality rates to the same level as in 2021. The pattern is very different though. 2021 had a severe peak followed by below average Spring mortality. 2023 had a smaller peak but followed by a consistent weekly excess.
@JohnRalfe1@PJTheEconomist This week, I was asked why the UK Government was the only 1 to mandate inflation indexation before retirement and inflation indexation (and often effectively much more than inflation!) in retirement… and yet still say “I’ve no idea why companies didn’t provide pensions anymore”!
@BBCNowShow A Mr B Johnson writes: I absolutely hate eating humble pie - I rather thought I’d brought home the bacon, turns out I was cooking up a storm. Phraarr!
@stevewebb1 @FelicityHannah Very clear message Steve - Nicely done! I guess fewer football pundits on the BBC means more time for helping people to understand their pensions.
My new article for the @LCP_Actuaries conference magazine discusses the legacy of the pandemic. @pearsonstuttard and I expect widening inequality and increased mortality directly from COVID and from delays in diagnosis and treatment of serious illnesses.

@H4wkm0th Looking forward to having my copies delivered, Erica. (I know that I will love it so much that I want to pass a spare copy to a friend … so have taken the precaution of ordering more than one!)
Last week #JohnLewis (the shop, not the person!) forced me over to a new credit card as they stopped providing the previous one. First weekend using it and they have blocked my card …for no apparent reason. I guess that’s #progress 🤔
Two Questions for Sir Ranulph Fiennes: 1. What is the most important characteristic for a true leader? 2. Are you available for the job of Prime Minister? #askran
